At Rotterdam School of Management our mission statement says that, as an institution, we will be a force for positive change in the world. This mission, which is based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals put forth by the United Nations General Assembly, drives our thinking and approach to education, business and the world around us. The mission also guides our admissions process, as we look for academically excellent candidates who also share our belief that we can all make a difference in the world.

Please respond fully but concisely to each question. Each essay should contain around 500 words.

1. Share how you’ve already been a force for positive change in your world. Your example can be large or small, global or local, but must highlight the positive impact you’ve had through your efforts. Tell us your story.  (+/-) 500 words)

3. Describe how the socio-economic environment in which you live/work impacts your business decisions. (+/- 500 words)

4. Describe the most difficult decision you have made and its effect on you. (+/- 500 words)

RSM MBA has shifted its focus towards becoming a “Force for Positive Change” and the class at RSM MBA reflects that focus. In this essay, the adcom is interested in your IMPACT story that made the world a truly better place.

If you’re wondering whether your story is BIG enough to make a dent in the world or not, you are not alone. The keyword is positive impact, the quantum and scale is secondary. Time for some reflection!

You can talk about either personal or professional outcomes in this essay. Focus on the positive change.

RSM MBA is a truly diverse MBA program. The cohort comprises of 32+ nationalities almost every year and nearly 97% of the class is international.

This kind of diversity places special emphasis on socio-economic norms prevailing in different parts of the world, especially when it comes to business decisions. 

Think along the lines of how business decision happen in your part of the world. Are people always objective or sometimes subjective? How much difference do personal relations play in decision making? How does the socio-culture environment impact your business decisions?

If there’s one thing that candidates develop in MBA programs, it is decision making. You’ll be making numerous decisions throughout the RSM MBA program and will certainly be getting better along the way.

In this essay, the adcom is interested in knowing about the “toughest” decision you’ve made so far. How would you qualify something to be “toughest”? It is not an easy task and this essay requires some serious self-reflection. The follow up focuses on the effect of the tough decision on you. Did you become better or worse? Think about it.
