Abhijeet Singh

I have worked with hundreds of candidates as a case interview coach, peer consultant and a mentor. The candidates I have guided and coached have gone on to work at McKinsey, Bain, BCG , Kearney, OW, RB and are advising some of the best-in-class Fortune 500 companies in India and across the world.

I am a full-time MBA graduate from Rotterdam School of Management, Netherlands. After working for over 9 years with public sector, consulting firms and a number of startups, I started STEPVUE as a Founder and Managing Director.

The courses at STEPVUE are the product of all my learnings and insights into the inner workings of management consulting industry. All the consulting courses have been designed with inputs from top consultants at MBB firms.

Course Curriculum

Module 1 : Introduction to Case Interviews

When you’re preparing for case interviews for McKinsey, Bain BCG, you dedicate yourself to a very specific style of problem solving and structured thinking. If you don’t understand the rules of the game, you'd find it hard to succeed against the players who know this game better than you. This modules gives you the starting point of how different candidates approach the case interview, what qualities do consulting firms look for in candidates and how you can develop the right mindset to solve case-interviews.

Module 2 : Case Fundamentals

This module introduced you to the concept of case background and objectives. As a consultant, you gain the tools you need to clarify case-interview prompt and synthesize tons of case interview information into manageable chunks. Our proprietary method of framing clarifying questions helps you master the first phase of case interviews. There are LIVE practice case drills to solidify your learnings from the modules with plenty of exercises.

Module 3 : Case Frameworks

We DON'T make you memorize any framework. The days of template based frameworks in management consulting ended a decade ago. These days MBB firms are looking for dynamic approaches to cases and are against canned frameworks. We introduce our unique approach to building customized frameworks, where different frameworks can be used and qualities of an outstanding framework. In addition we also spend time in analyzing rookie framework mistakes, and how you should present your case framework. All this is accompanies by LIVE case practice drill where you practice making customized framework with your cohort.

Module 4 : Case Math & Structuring Drills

Consulting without math is like making a movie without a camera. It is a fundamental requirement in a case interviews and without this skill, you can't succeed at MBB or Big 4. This modules gives you a deep-dive into case math and the quantitative skills needed for case-solving. We cover how top 1% consultants go through their case calculations, what techniques they use, how do they simplify their numbers while doing estimations, and how to stay within range while doing all of this. In this module, you will learn a comprehensive set of calculation methods designed specifically to enable you to perform Interview Math calculations quickly and easily, as well as get tons of practice in the most typical quantitative case Interview problem types.

Module 5 : Market Sizing & Guesstimates

All consulting interviews at McKinsey, Bain, BCG, or any other firms such Deloitte, ZS Associates, PwC, Roland Berger etc. would inevitably have a market sizing or guesstimate round. The questions often are the pain points for a vast majority of candidates. Most students are often stuck at the "How many burgers does McDonalds" serve" level of questions which isn't really helpful in real consulting interviews. In this module, you'll learn advanced market sizing techniques that typically are needed for case interviews at MBB. You'll learn how to apply your consulting toolkit to any conventional or unconventional market sizing question. There are tons of LIVE practice drills which you'll solve along with your peers and individually.

Module 6 : Issue Trees and MECE

Consultants love to be MECE. In fact, if there's one thing that you need to master well is to be MECE in your consulting interviews. MECE is one of the hallmarks of problem solving especially at McKinsey, and over the years all consulting firms have come to appreciate its value. We also cover Issue Trees in this module which is another classic technique to tackle difficult problems. In this module, we also cover how candidates can build multi-layered issue trees from scratch that pass the MECE test and also bring insights at deeper levels from the case.

Module 7 : Brainstorming & Making Recommendations

This module brings to light one of the most crucial portions of case interviews, the brainstorming part. It shows your structured thinking ability and their creativity. Most candidates are not able to brainstorm creatively for the problem and struggle to make the right recommendations. What do they do wrong? Short answer: almost everything. In this module, you’ll transform your brainstorming skill, learn how you talk about your ideas confidently and how you can capture interviewer’s attention. You get to do multiple LIVE practice drills with your cohort and solidify your brainstorming techniques.

Module 8 : Grand Finale

The fundamental skill of a great consultant is to distil information and present it to the clients in a structured and logical way. In this module, we put you in the ring where you test all the skills you have learned in the modules. There is a group case session where you would be working in teams on a group case to make consulting presentations on a given topic.

Testimonials

Naman J

I got my BCG Associate offer all thanks to Abhijeet. I was able to shine in my interviews with both my cases and fit so that they offered me a Associate position instead of Junior after three interviews. My conversation with the Partner was really only about when I would be starting and some basic discussions. I couldn't have done it without his excellent coaching, detailed feedback throughout the case interviews we had, and the encouraging and value-adding sessions we had. Thank you Abhijeet!

This has been such a rewarding experience for me! I learned so much in such a short time, but I truly enjoyed every single day, and made some awesome friendships along the way, all while increasing my case-interview skills! Definitely a win-win! Do it! I am so glad that I did this for myself!

The TREK course was all I needed. It gave the right frameworks and consulting toolkit needed to get successful in case interviews. Coming from a non-business background, the STPEVUE Consulting TREK program clearly elevated my performance to the next level and helped me secure a job at McKinsey.
